On November 18, 2007 the first annual Armenian American Writer's Dinner was held at Taglyan Hall in Hollywood.
The event's highlight was David Kherdian's signing the anthology titled Forgotten Bread. The book is a compilation of literary works by first generation Armenian-American authors, each preceded by an introduction written by a second generation Armenian-American writer.
A casual hour, before the main event, created a confortable atmosphere to meet and greet with great litarary figures such as Mark Arax and Aram Saroyan.
Before reading Forgotten Bread, I had no idea that Armenian-American writers have made so many contributions to the American literature. The book provides an insight into the struggle of these authors to maintain their American identity while holding to their Armenian essence. It is a great source of inspiration.
